In recognition of National Gun Violence Awareness Month, Abraxas implemented UNARMED: Gun Violence Education Program across several of its residential treatment programs. The initiative aims to educate youth on the realities and consequences of gun violence while promoting safety and personal responsibility. To prepare for this rollout, staff members received specialized training in the UNARMED curriculum while focusing on engaging, youth-centered facilitation techniques.
This curriculum program reflects Abraxas’ commitment to addressing the root causes of gun violence through education and open dialogue. By launching UNARMED during a month dedicated to raising awareness, Abraxas empowers youth to reflect on their experiences, engage in meaningful conversations, and become advocates for safer communities.
Educate for Safety. Empower for Change.
Thank you to Katie Ettorre, Director of Clinical Services, Research & Development for creating and developing this valuable learning experience for our youth!
